"Ok Bailey, this is called Lockdown." Ross stated as Bailey trailed behind him as he walked through the halls of the venue in New York. "Basically the place gets 'locked down', hence the name. No one can leave or enter until the show starts.
"Oh?" Bailey replied, understanding what was going on, but still curious as to why there was such a thing.
"Now usually places like this have a little wreck room/hang out place. Like this." he addressed, then swung open a huge steel door to reveal dozens of people playing ping pong, listening to music, playing PS2, surfing the net. It was a room full of many activities to occupy one within the lockdown hour.
"Bailey!" Kevin yelled, then rushed up to her.
"Enjoy." Ross said before exiting the noisy room.
"Hey Kid." she said, then playfully punched him in the arm.
He grabbed his arm where her fist made contact and playfully winced. "Who you calling 'kid', kid? I'm older than you. I rule." he crossed his arms.
"Aye, two years isn't that big of a difference, you old fart."
Kevin looked at her confusedly, "That makes no sense what-so-ever." she narrowed her eyes at him.
"What, something about farts?" Joe popped up behind Bailey and joined the conversation.
One look at his face and her stomach became infested with butterflies.
"Kevin said you smelled like one." she stated, awaiting Kevin's reaction. He just stood there and nodded at Joe's dropped jaw.
"Hmm." was all Joe said, then eyed his brother. "That's not very nice." he said simply.
"HEADS UP!" someone yelled, making the three of them duck as a basketball flew over their heads. "Sorry!" the voice called out.
"I think I just saw my life flash before my eyes." Joe informed.
Kevin shook his head. "Anyway, 7 minutes 'til show time. We've gotta go."
"But Ross said this thing was for an hour?" Bailey said, a bit confused.
"Yeah, you just happened to come 53 minutes late." Joe said with a smirk. "What is he having you do during the show anyway?"
"Basically he wants me standing in front of the barricade with a clipboard and headset for the first few shows until he finds something else for me to do." she replied.
"I see. . . Sounds like you've got your work but out for you, huh?" Kevin joked.
"I guess. It's just, when my mom told me about this job, I thought I was going to have something to do, something that I was responsible for. I don't know, -something better and more important than holding a clip board, ya know?" Bailey rambled, mostly to herself.
"Now now, cheer up." Joe piped in while draping his arm around her shoulders, unknowingly sending a tingle down her spine. "You get to just stand and enjoy the show and have fun."

"'Fun' my ass." Bailey murmured as she leaned against the stage, looking at the faces of 897349 shrieking fans.
"What was that, Bails?" Joe's voice was heard through her headset.
"Woah, you have one of these things too?" she replied into the mic, a little embarrassed that she forgot everyone monitoring the stage could hear her.
"For now, until we go on stage." he said. "You don't look very happy."
Bailey glanced around her, "-And you can see me too? Ahem, stalker, ahem." she coughed into the mouthpiece.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. You're hilarious. But no, look on the side of the stage."
Bailey's eyes scanned the area and saw Joe waving. She smiled and waved back, making the girls behind her scream even louder.
"OH MY GOD! IT'S JOE!" someone shrieked. The decibel level in the arena rose tremendously.
Bailey then glared at Joe who shot her an apologetic look. She stared in his direction as a big buff guy came up behind him. He smacked him in the back of his head before snatching the headphones from him and pointing for him to go backstage. Bailey couldn't help but burst out laughing. It was only moments after when the lights in the arena went out; the crowd went wild.
"Are you guys ready?!" Kevin's voice echoed through the gigantic speakers set up on stage, causing her ears to start ringing from the screams.
"What's that? I don't think anyone's out there guys." Joe's voice came in. She mumbled under her breath as her ears popped.
"Bailey Lynn!" my mother's voice yelled in her earpiece, making her roll her eyes.
"They just give anyone a headset, don't they?" Bailey thought to herself, then smiled when she remembered the fact that they were dropping her mom off at home after the next show.
The chunky chords of "Hold On" were accompanied by Joe's lovely voice as the boys made their way on stage. Bailey watched as they ran around on stage without a care in the world. They were full of energy and spunk. She admired Nick's fingering as his hand moved up and down on the neck of the guitar. Her view was interrupted by Joe's facing leaning down towards her as he sang into the mic. He made a funny face as he pushed the words out of his lungs, then jumped over to the other side of the stage.
"Ms. Baker, don't you dare even think about it." her mom said into the headpiece.
Bailey glanced around for her mom, but didn't see her anywhere. "What are you talking about?" she yelled over the bass and into the mouthpiece.
"I saw that look."
"What look?" she replied, gaining interest into what her mother was saying. She held the headphones closer to her ears and pressed down as her mom spoke so she could hear her better over the music.
"That look. You know, like the look you used to give Jake." Bailey was speechless. "You know what I'm talking about." she stopped for a moment.
"Mom." her voice cracked as her eyes began to burn. She looked up, hoping the tears that were welling up would go away, but instead they met with Joe's warm, brown eyes as he finished up the last lyric only a few feet away from her face on stage.
Bailey quickly slipped the headphones off her ears, then wiped her eyes. She bit her bottom lip hard and thought to herself. "Forget about it. Let it go. She didn't mean it." Like hell she did. "Jake's useless. Forget about him, he doesn't matter anymore. Think of Joe." She smiled to herself. "Wait, what do you mean 'Think of Joe', I just met the guy today." The battle between her thoughts were interrupted as Joe started talking. "But then again, the tour just started."
"How you guys doing tonight?" Bailey was brought back to reality as the screaming started up again. "I'd like to dedicate this next one to a special Baker." he smiled down at her, hoping to cheer her up a bit, even though he was completely oblivious to what was running through her mind. "She's an underdog - " Joe started singing.
She was instantly lost in her mind again. After drowning out her mother's muffle voice coming from the headphones, she began to think about Joe. She couldn't resist staring and watching his every move as he clowned around on stage. He was highly attractive and everyone and their Grandmom knew it.
"Who am I kidding." Bailey mumbled to herself. She barley heard her mom reply in the headset before she unplugged it form the battery pack. She smirked at the thought of the words her mom must've been using at that moment.

"You want to tell me what went on out there?" Ross beamed down on her only moments after the show had ended.
"Uh, I uh - " her mind raced as Ross' stern face glared down at her small frame.
"The headsets - " Joe came up behind her. "They were giving off a bad feed. All you could hear was screeching, I was going to talk to you about that." Bailey looked over at him as he spoke, zoning out a bit as she watched the sweat drip down his face. Instantly, she shook her head to get rid of the thought.
"Yeah, yeah." she quickly agreed. "Horrible feed, that's all." Ross nodded with satisfaction, then walked away. "Thanks for that." she stated, little relieved that Ross let it go.
Joe nodded in acknowledgment. "Just so you know, we're talking about this later." he pointed at her. "I mean it, but right now I gotta go. We've got a Meet & Greet tonight, so I guess I'll just see you where ever we're stopping tomorrow."
Bailey nodded with a smile. "I think we're in Philly tomorrow, but yeah, I'll see you then."
Joe stared at her for a moment, then went to move towards her but stopped. "I'd give you a hug, but I'm kind of all, gross and sweaty and junk." he chuckled at himself.
"Ha ha, it's cool. Save it for me tomorrow?" she asked as she slowly backed away from him, he nodded, then started backing up himself. A few steps back, he bumped into a random box, causing him to stumble a bit. His cheeks turned a light shade of pink before he gave Bailey a little wave. She smiled to himself and waved back before heading through the backstage area and outside to the tour buses. Boy, was she in for it.
